I was super stoked to finally get geared up and ride it properly. I rode a few km on tarmac before turning on to a gravel road. This was what I had been waiting for! With the advanced setting it was really easy to get wheel spin into the corners and the controls felt very accurate. I loved the brakes, but the suspension felt a little stiff. This could be due to the fact that we ride with very soft suspension during the winter months. On the other hand, I guess MX guys would find the current setting way too soft. Go figure. I thought the bike felt pretty nimble and light going into corners, despite the distinctively higher rotating mass of the engine compared to my 250.
The Akra had not arrived at the shop and will be fitted later with the handle bar map selector. Speaking of the maps, I was too excited to switch to the soft setting. I’m really looking forward to testing that too as delicate riding in low gears was pretty much impossible.
Other than that, it’s time to continue with the setup and mods. There’s a bunch of stuff on its way from the UK to my garage. I’ll get into those later, when they arrive. For now the mods are:
- KTM Evo 1 air filter lid
- KTM radiator guards
