I’ve yet to begin writing the 500 EXC project page, but in the mean time here are a few photos from the 2000 km test ride during the last two weeks through Poland and Slovakia.

Great scenery! Can’t wait to hear how EXC performed on this type of use.
Nice to see your progress on the 500 EXC. Looks like a sweet ride with all the extra bits you put on.
Do you carry extra oil in the bashplate? Is it connected to the motor, or is it simply an extra suply once its time for an oil change? How often do you change oil (this type och trailriding should be somewhat easier on the motor compared to enduro racing)
I’ve been putting down around 2000km on the 690 now and there are some things that need to be fixed: PHDS mounts to reduce vibes, powerparts windshield for longer trips and a USB outlet to charge the GPS.
Happy so far, but she sure is a heavy lady, compared to my 350 EXC, once you get stuck in the mud…
Happy trails!

Hi Erik, glad to hear the 690 is getting some miles in! Fully agree on the weight 🙂
The tank in the skid plate is purely a storage for the oil and not connected to anything. In fact on the 500 I’ve decided to ditch the tank plate and go with a carbon skid plate. It’ll take 4.5 kg off the bike and oil can be carried in OEM plastic bottles or aluminium fuel bottles.
I did the first longer stretch oil change after 2200 km. The oil seemed a little spent, so I’ll probably shorten the interval to 1500-1800 km depending on the riding, and see how it goes. I will also fit an oil cooler which will give it a little more capacity, which should help…
